Position Overview:

As a result of our Depot Manager retiring, we are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Depot Manager to oversee operations at our Devon depot comprising of 42 staff and 27 vehicles. The Depot Manager will be responsible for managing all aspects of depot operations, including fleet management, staff supervision, safety compliance, and customer relations. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in transport management, exceptional leadership skills, and a proven track record of driving operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for and ensuring that planning, delivery, reverse logistics, warehousing and storage are managed effectively through the team.
  • Fully responsible for the day to day management and P&L of Devon Depot and maintaining excellent levels of customer service.
  • Responsible for ensuring the site is maintained in accordance with legal requirements.
  • Responsible for producing & issuing management reports for customers and SRL finance as required.
  • Lead and motivate a team of drivers, mechanics, warehouse and administrative staff, fostering a culture of accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement.
  • Responsibilities include compliance to all relevant legislation and through liaison with the maintenance fitters and Transport Manager, ensure that all vehicles are fully serviced & maintained in order to achieve maximum energy efficiency, reliability and compliance.
  • Responsible for achieving H&S and Quality objectives for the depot through KPI’s and EnPi’s
  • Ensuring systems compliance through liaising with both the Group H&S and Quality Managers as required.
  • Monitor driver performance against business objectives, investigate monthly variances & take corrective action where applicable.
  • Utilise resources to achieve optimum capacity through developing and maintaining customers in order to support the depot overheads
  • Implement strategies to optimize fuel efficiency and reduce operating costs.
